10 NIGERIA TEENS TO WATCH IN 2016

As the year 2016 football calendar begin to count, owngoalnigeria.com takes a look at 10 Nigeria teens who might have a breakaway year.


1.Louis Ogana (Braga): 20 year old Louis Ogana is a typical centre forward, strong and skillful who knows his way to goal making scoring look easy. Powerful n forceful in his approach.

He joined SC Braga after two seasons at low division side Ribeirao where he made a total of 34 appearances with 15 goals to his name that earned him a move to Braga where he has excelled with the B team scoring 5 goals from 10 games so far.

Yet to make his debut for the club’s main team 2016 might be the year he gets rewarded for his fine form for the B team.

2.Blessing Eleke (NK Gorica): He is a typical centre forward, good turn, very unselfish in his play, can hold up play and contribute his own fair share of goals with 12 goals to his name already from 19 games played so far by HNK Gorica in the Slovenia league.

Missed out on a chance to impress with the Nigeria U-23 team as his team refused to release him for the Africa Under-23 championship but might be considered for the Olympic games in Rio.

Already a move away from Slovenia is on the card with Swedish top team Malmo battling Italian Serie A team Genoa over him and in the summer of 2016 he will definitely ply his trade on a bigger platform in a bigger league barring any unforeseen circumstances.

3.Kingsley Ehizibue (PEC Zwolle): Dutch born Nigeria full back Kingsley Ehizibue is a modern day fullback, strong on the ball,solid in tackle, skillful and a good crosser of the ball.

A goal and 3 assist already this season,the 20 year old reminds lovers of the Super Eagles of former winger Finidi George even though he is defender cum winger.

This season he has made 10 appearances,7 more than he made during the entirety of last season and will be hoping for more in the new year which might force a tussle for him internationally between Nigeria and the Netherlands.

He is yet to be capped by the Netherlands or Nigeria at any level and this year might be the year he get recognized by coaches of both national teams at various grades.

4.Dele Alampasu (Feirense): The potential is huge, not yet there as a world class goalkepper but in no distant future might be Nigerian number one goalkepper.

Blessed with Superb reflexes, good command of his back four, a great communicator and also boast of great Athleticism. He radiates confidence at every touches with d ball, qualities that make him a good goalkepper and his timing of Aerial ball is immaculate.

Although he has just one professional cap to his name but his performance on his debut suggest it won’t be long before he becomes the team first choice and 2016 might most likely be the year.

5.Stanley Amuzie (Olhanense): Good crosser of the ball,skillful and one thing most people really liked about his quality is that he covers lots of ground. He has great technique and he is physically imposing, narrowly missed out on a move to Sampdoria due to an injury.

The injury also cost him a place in the Nigeria Under-23 team that conquered Africa at the recently concluded U-23 championship but if he recovers properly should be in contention for the Olympic games.

He made an under the radar move to Portuguese second division team Olhanense where his progress will be closely monitored by Sampdoria in view of a return back to the team in the summer of 2016.

6.Theophilus Solomon (NK Sibenik):Strong,skillful and daring and after three years in Europe he is presently thriving this season at second division team NK Sibenik.

The soon to be 20 year old is on loan from Rijeka to second division Sibenik after injury limited him to just 13 appearances for Zadar in the top division last season.

So far he has 9 goals to his name from 15 games making him the second top scorer in the division and with his contract up in the summer 2016 might just be the year he secured a dream move after the frustration of missing out on a chance to join Juventus 4 years ago.

7.Peter Olayinka (Gent): Unknown at the start of the year but after excelling in the Europa league with Albania side Skendebreu Korce earned a record breaking move to Belgium champions Gent.

Olayinka who is quitting the Albanian league after three seasons leaves with 10 goals including a goal in his final match for the champions of the league in Albania.

The Belgium side have high hopes on the 20 year old forward who they reportedly bought as a replacement for want away forward Laurent Depoitre, 2016 will be the year when all eyes will be on him.

8.Sadiq Umar (Roma):A product of Future Of Africa Academy,the lanky 18 year old caught the eyes of Serie B side Spezia during a youth tournament he attended three years ago with Football Academy Abuja.

Jololo like he is called emerged top scorer at Spezia Primevera team last season scoring 14 goals in 18 games which earned him a loan move to AS Roma where he has already scored 14 times in all youth competition with four in the UEFA Youth League.

He however made it to the front page of most dailies in Italy when he scored the second goal for AS Roma in a 2-0 win over Genoa in the Serie A on the 20th of December 2015 on his third game for the senior team and might get his first start this year if he maintains his current form and growth.

Already viewed as a first team player at Roman he has so far made three starts for the first team and was highly praised by Ex Roma manager Rudi Garcia after the game against AC Milan.

9.Fidelis Irhene (Portimonense): The 19 year old defensive midfielder is a hard tackler and good passer of d ball, physically imposing and reads the game very well.

He has been one of d reasons why high flying Portimonense are battling for promotion and he puts up what was arguably his best performance of the season against first divsion side Arouca during the Portuguese league cup.

10.Godswill Elohor (Barcelona):Rated as one of Barcelona bright prospect and survived a major purge carried out on the B team in June despite missing the entirety of last season after an operation before the start of the season.

20 year old Elohor this season has so far played in 15 of the 19 games the B team have played this season and the right full back trained with the main team once this season a sign he has fully recuperated from his injury troubles.

Captained Barcelona Juvenil team to the UEFA youth league trophy in 2014,He is bless with pace,power and scores goals from his right full back role and can also play on the wing.

Yet to be capped by Nigeria at any level after missing out on the U-23 team due to visa issues and club commitment,2016 is the year where he will be playing to earn a new deal at Barcelona with his present deal set to run out in the summer of 2017.
