The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to terminate contracts of national team assistant coaches in a move meant to save cost going by the harsh economic reality in Nigeria.

“We can’t afford to be paying assistant coaches anymore as there’s no much money in circulation like it use to be and above all it’s the smart thing to do” He told owngoalnigeria.com

“Plans are already underway to have assistant coaches from the national team below them for instance, U-17 coach will be assistant to U-20, U-20 coaches will assist U-23,like that,like that”.

Our source lamented the fact that most assistant coaches of the national teams rely on it for their day to day survival hence even if they are to be retained they must be attached to a team playing professional football.

“If we are going to retain the assistant coaches then they must be attached to professional clubs as aside giving them a day to day update on talented players, it also help their financial status”
