As part of his trial process,Nigeria youth international Mustapha Abdullahi today played 45 minutes in a friendly game for Arminia Bielefeld against SV Groedig.
The game ended 1-1 with Abdullahi hoping he has done enough to earn a deal with the 12th place second division team after so many failed attempts to move abroad including a last minute disappointments when he tried to move to a Portuguese team in the summer.
A Nigeria youth international at both U-17 and 20 level he was at the last World Youth Championship in New Zealand playing all of the games but failed to make same impact like he did at the Africa Youth Championship where his overlapping runs played a big part in Nigeria lifting the title in Senegal.
He has been in Germany for over a week and reports gathered by owngoalnigeria.com seems to point in the direction of the 20 year old close to signing a deal bar any last minute hitch.
If he signs he will reignite a Nigeria connection with the team which was started by Patrick Owomoyela who ironically dumped Nigeria for Germany but never got up to 10 caps for the World Cup holders.
