Manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal are very close to clinching the signing of two Nigeria U-17 World cup winners in Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.
When asked by reporters whether he expects the deal to be done before Monday’s deadline Wenger replied confidently.
“Yes. The talks are progressing well” He said.
“Yes of course there are work permit issues. There are medical issues,becuase they have to make medicals. It’s progressing well”.
On how the duo was discovered Arsene Wenger revealed they got wind of their talents during the last U-17 World cup where Nwakali emerged as the most valuable player.
“We identified Nwakali as the player of the tournament, basically, and as a top player. We will see if we can manage to get it over the line during this transfer period. If we can, we will do it, Chukwueze is signing as well” He concluded.
The pair are from Diamond Football Academy in Umuahia,Nigeria and Arsenal fend off competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich to clinch their signature.
