Nigeria youth international Zahradeen Bello have been invited for a month trial with Portuguese top division side Boavista as a replacement for another Nigeria youth international Lukman Zakari who failed to honor the club invitation.
Zakari had a gap in communication with the agent that got him the invitation from Boavista shortly after winning the U-17 World Cup with Nigeria in Chile last year hence refused to travel for the trial forcing the agent to get Bello, a Nigeria U-17 World Cup winner in 2013 as his replacement.
Bello’s passport is already with the Portuguese embassy in Nigeria and barring any last minute hitch should be issued a visa by next week and he is expected to be in Portugal in two weeks time to begin the trial which will last for a month.
The 18 year old played in all of Nigeria’s game at the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal last year which Nigeria won and also featured at the World Youth Championship in New Zealand where also played in all of the country’s game before Germany knocked them out in the second round.
He currently plays for Kano Pillars of Nigeria in the Nigeria Premier League but will be offered a deal by the Boavista to join the Nigeria trio of Rueben Gabriel,Uche Nwofor and Michael Uchebo if he impresses during the trial.
