The name Stanley Awurum might not be a popular name in Nigeria but the 25 year old is slowly becoming the most feared goal getter in the Portuguese second division scoring his 11th goal of the season for Varzim in their 1-1 draw with Benfica B.
Awurum drew Varzim level in the 53rd minute of their second division league game against Benfica II to score his third goal in as many games taking his season tally to thirteen.

He joined Varzim late last season after they have already secured promotion from the third division to the second division but did little to justify his signing until this season as he is presently just two goals behind the top scorer in the league despite his team struggling in 13th position on the league table.

His coach at Varzim,Quim Berto once described him as his team secret weapon earlier in the season but he is well known and feared in Mozambique where he played for second division team Chibuito scoring a total of 25 goals that fired them to the finals of the country’s FA Cup as well as a second place finish on the log in the league.
