Latvia’s top division team Ventspils have secured the services of Nigeria youth international on a three year deal after a short trial according to reports exclusively gathered by owngoalnigeria.com.

Ventspils campaigned in the qualifiers for the group stage of the UEFA champions League but failed to make the group stage losing 1-4 on aggregate to HJK Helsinki of Finland.

Alfa impressed the technical crew of the third placed team in Latvia and coach Paul Ashworth who have working experience in Nigeria as a coach in Kwara State and was one time technical director of Glo Premier League side Sunshine Stars gave his blessings to the signing of the 19 year old who played an integral part in Nigeria lifting the 2013 U-17 World cup in UAE.

He narrowly missed out on the team that went to the U-20 World Youth Championship in New Zealand after playing in almost all of the team qualifiers and one game at the Africa edition.

Known for his vision and tireless work rate in the midfield, an ownership tussle prevented him from joining Genk of Belgium shortly after the U-17 World cup and after failed attempts to secure a club in Sweden,Norway and Portugal he will now turn up for the Latvian side who will formally announce his signing after receiving his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the Nigeria Football Federation latest tommorow.
