Nigeria rising star Chidozie Awaziem made a good impression on his league debut for FC Porto with some solid piece of defending to help them beat Benfica 2-1.
Injuries to first team regular central backs saw the hard tackling defender make the step up to the main team a bit earlier than he would have expected and never would he have thought his league debut will come against arch rivals Benfica.
Still with much to learn about his new teammates after making the step up to the main team, the young central defender however showed promise of what is to come if he gets regular game for the team.
One major improvement to his game that we noticed was the timing of his tackles which twice got him out of tight corners, a remarkable improvement from his rash tackling style that have seen him pick up needless cards for the B team.
19 year old Awaziem joined FC Porto from El-Kanemi juniors in Jos and after posting impressive performance for the reserve side competing in the second division, He made his first team bow in a league cup tie against Farense.
