Former Nigeria national team captain and goalkepper Vincent Enyeama stood between Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and all three points helping Lille end PSG 17 game winning run in the French Ligue 1.
The game ended 0-0 and despite PSG resting some of their top quality players they still had enough gifted players on the pitch to win the tie but as early as the ninth minute Enyeama denied them what should have been the opener.
A diving Enyeama denied Jean Kevin Augustin when he went through on goal before pulling another top draw stop to deny Javier Pastore and later Layvin Kurzawa.
PSG continued their dominance in the second half but a Di Maria effort posed no problem for the ex Nigeria captain, next to try his luck was Lucas Moura but once again Enyeama was there to push away his long range effort.
The chances kept pouring in for PSG but Enyeama was equal to almost everything thrown at him and even when Edinson Cavani thought he has won it for the league leaders an inspired Enyeama was there to protect Lille’s net.
Marquinho had an effort thwarted by Enyeama in stoppage time as PSG record of 17 straight wins in all competitions came to an end largely due to the efforts of Vincent Enyeam, the Lille shot stopper.
