Samuel Adegbenro went off injured yesterday as Viking got thumped 4-1 by FK Haugesund in a friendly game ahead of the start of the new season in Norway, a game that had as many as five Nigerians on the pitch for both sides.

FK Haugesund had Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong pairing another Nigerian Anthony Izuchukwu in central defence with new signing Ibrahim Shuaibu formerly of Giwa FC completing the trio of Nigerians for Haugesund while Viking started with Samuel Adegbenro and Suleiman Abdullahi leaving Usman Sale and Aniekpeno Udoh on the bench.

Adegbenro went off injured just over the hour mark when Viking were losing 3-0 an exit that further diminished their chances of rescuing anything from the game as he was by far their best player for the minutes he was on the pitch coming twice to scoring in the first half and setting up three chances wasted by his teammates.

However among all the Nigerians on display Ibrahim Shuaibu who had a goal disallowed for offside was by far the most liveliest although Trosst Ekong deserve a mention for keeping Viking at bay for the larger part of the game before their late consolation goal.
