Head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team Samson Siasia says his Olympic team is not for players who are not regulars in their various teams be it at home or abroad.

“I won’t take players who don’t play to the Olympics unless those with special cases probably injury or playing for top level teams in Europe which we all understand any teenager in their match day squad is special” He told

His statement will come as bad news to players like Liverpool Taiwo Awoniyi who is yet to kick a ball in Germany second division league for his loan side FSV Frankfurt

The coach said the friendly game against Brazil was pegged for March 24th so that foreign based players will be able to participate as it is a FIFA date for international games.

“The friendly is so design for we to have the full compliment of our foreign players for the game, hopefully we will see those we can use to beef up the squad ahead of the Olympics.
