One of the most prolific striker in the Nigeria Professional Football League Wikki Tourist of Bauchi Godwin Obaje has revealed the secret about his goal scoring exploits away from home.

Scoring goals away from home is a rare phenomenon in the Nigeria top flight league but the 19 year old in just his second season in the league has scored 6 goals away from home.

Point to note was he didn’t even finish last season as he made a short sojourn to Europe where he had a brief stint with AS Trencin of Slovakia but left due to contractual disagreements.

Back at Wikki Tourist he picked up from where he left up in terms of scoring goals away from home in the Nigeria Premier League by scoring the lone goal for the boys from Bauchi as they stunned home team El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 at their adopted ground in Katsina.

“I am more suited to scoring goals away from home as it is in games away from home that you get the space you need to wreck havoc” He told owngoalnigeria.com.

“When you play away opponents push forward in search of goals leaving space behind which is good for my game, but when we play at home team defend deep and it makes it hard to take advantage”.

On if he has a particular target he has set this season in terms of goal scoring, the soft spoken ex FRSC forward said he is focus on helping his team.

“There’s more to my game than goal scoring, as much as I will love to win the top scorer award am not obsessed with it, I just want to help my team do well, I love setting up others to score if am not in the right spot to score”.
