SC Vipers of Uganda might be forced to throw in young forward Alfred Leku ahead of the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary game against Enyimba FC of Nigeria.
Vipers are without experience forward William Wadri who is presently bedridden after undergoing a hernia operation and that has reduced the options of coach George “Best” Nsimbe ahead of the tie in Porthacourt.
“The advantage of having him (Leku) is that he can be played as a lone striker which offers a different option to what we have” Nsimbe said yesterday.
20 year old Leku is among three academy players drafted into the first team at the start of the season and the Senior Five student is yet to score in the league where he made his debut in the goalless draw away to Sadolin Paints in December.
He wasn’t named in the squad that defeated Enyimba 1-0 in the first leg as coach Nsimbe played with Mike Mutyaba and Erisa Sekisambu upfront.
