Head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team Samson Siasia has agreed to come to the rescue of the Nigeria Football Federation by accepting their proposal to coach the Super Eagles following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation.
Earlier on owngoalnigeria.com reported Siasia and Amuneke as front runners for the job but the NFF from what we heard has finally settled for the Nigeria U-23 boss due to his familiarity with the team.
Owngoalnigeria.com can authoritatively confirmed that Siasia will be in charge of Nigeria’s March double header against Egypt which will go a long way in determining Nigeria’s qualification for next year Africa Cup of Nations.
Siasia will work with Salisu Yusuf one of Oliseh’s assistant who he has worked with in the past but it appears it will be in interim capacity until a permanent manager is gotten for the Eagles if they qualify for the cup of Nations in Gabon.
However Siasia might still continue in his role as Super Eagles coach if he accepts to drop his position as Nigeria U-23 coach after the Olympics in Rio but only if the Eagles qualifies the team for next year Africa cup of Nations.
