Owngoalnigeria.com gathered the fresh terms proposed to the midfield maestro is a significant increase on his present £80,000 a week deal but Mikel knows in the summer when he has 12 months left on his current deal the club might be forced to further increase his pay.
Although he is willing to commit his future to the team he also wants to know if he fits into the plans of the next Chelsea manager expected to be named in the summer
So far he has enjoyed a tremendous change of fortune this season since manager Guus Hiddink took over in interim capacity as he has become an ever present figure in the starting line up unlike when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
