The rise of Chidozie Awaziem at FC Porto took a giant leap when the 19 year old scored the team’s first goal in their 2-0 win over Gil Vicente in the Portuguese cup.

Awaziem plucked from El-Kanemi junior of Jos 18 months ago scored in the 11th minute to set them on the way to a 2-0 victory that saw them progress on a 5-0 aggregate score.

The Nigerian who has only four top flight games under his belt is however no stranger to scoring goals as a defender as he already has one goal for the B team in the second division this season before making the step up to the main team.

Already he is being viewed as the team’s long term solution to their central defence problems which forms part of the reason why he was given a four year deal.
