Nigeria’s teen duo of Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi were both spotted in AS Roma training by owngoalnigeria.com ahead of their UEFA Champions League game against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
AS Roma will be hoping to overcome a 2-0 deficit suffered at home in the first leg against Real Madrid three weeks ago when they take on the 10 time winners of the tournament at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However their Nigeria duo are both ineligible to play in the game as they are not registered and will instead drop to the UEFA youth league where they will take on their PSG counterparts on the 9th of March in the quarterfinals.
Sadiq is one of the topscorers in the tournament with 5 goals to his name although he is four goals behind Roberto Nunez of Athletico Madrid who is on 9 goals.
The path to the main team for both players appears to have been blocked by new coach Luciano Spalleti who has sparingly used Sadiq unlike his predecessor Rudi Garcia who used the 19 year old in four of his last five games before his sack.
On his part Nura suffered a minor hear ailment and only returned to full team training in January but despite Spalleti blocking him from going on loan he is yet to make his debut for the first team.
Both players are currently on loan with Roma having the option of making the deal permanent in the summer.
