Nigeria midfield anchor Eddy Ogenyi Onazi was once again left on the bench by his Italian Serie A side Lazio as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
Onazi’s inactivity has now stretched to 40 days without a competitive game and he has missed Lazio’s last 8 games in all competition.
His last game for Lazio was on the 3rd of February in a 0-2 loss to Napoli in the Serie A since then he hasn’t gotten anywhere near the action on the pitch of play.
A prominent and key player for Nigeria his lack of game time should worry the Super Eagles coaches ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON 2017 double header game against Egypt.
While the Lazio man sat on the bench for the entirety of the game Sparta Prague brought in Romanian Nigerian Kehinde Fatai in the 59th minute but he failed to inspire them to victory.
The second leg tie will be played in three weeks time in Rome.
