FANENDO ADI’S BRACE RESCUE PORTLAND TIMBERS FROM DEFEAT

Super Eagles forward Fanendo Adi warmed up for Nigeria’s clash against Egypt by scoring a late brace as Portland Timbers force Real Salt Lake to a 2-2.

Adi’s brace came late into the game with his team trailing by two goals he scored a quick fire brace in four minutes in the 80th and 84th minute after their opponents were reduced to 9 men following two red cards.

The brace took his season’s tally to three goals in the first three games of the new MLS season after opening his goal accounts two weeks ago against Columbus Crew.

Last season he scored 18 times from 39 games a form that caught the attention of interim Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia who gave him his maiden call up to the Nigeria senior national team.

Nigerians will be hoping he extends his goal scoring run to the National team who need at least four points in their next AFCON 2017 qualifiers against Egypt on the 25th and 29th of March in Kaduna and Alexandria respectively.

25 year old Adi is heavily tipped to win his first cap for Nigeria in either of both games as the Super Eagles aim to topple the group G leaders Egypt who are on six points two more than the Nigerians.
