Former captain of the Super Eagles Ahmed Musa says he was not suppose to have been made captain of the team in the first place.

Answering questions from journalist shortly after announcing he is stepping down as captain of the team for John Obi Mikel the 23 year old CSKA Moscow forward faulted the decision of former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh who made him captain.

Mikel and Musa both grew up in Jos,Plateau state and as at when the world came to the attention of the talent of the Chelsea man,Musa was still playing street football.

“I want us to put aside what has happened in the past that lead to my being made captain of the team but I can’t be captain of a team when I have senior player in the team like Mikel” He said.

“It doesn’t really matter who is captain as the most important thing is for the team to win and am very happy to contribute my quota either as captain or not”.
