Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that an advice from a former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) started the cold war between former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama and President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick.
Erstwhile president of the NFF Aminu Maigari we gathered told Pinnick to be wary of Enyeama owing to the row of appearance bonus at the World cup in Brazil believed to have been instigated by the former Super Eagles captain spearheaded.
Maigari advised Pinnick to get rid of the captain if he wants to have control of the team and Enyeama on his part made it easy for the NFF supremo by his ill comments about the NFF choice of Kaduna as match venue for Nigeria against Chad in the Super Eagles first AFCON 2017 qualifiers game.
The comment further irked Pinnick and despite pleas from former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi he went ahead to serve him a query over an issue the coach has address already.
Pinnick wanted to go further by banning Enyeama from the national team and also wanted his French side Lille to ban him as well but Keshi in one of the few times the NFF president listened to him strongly kicked against.
However when Keshi was sacked few months later and Enyeama had issues with Sunday Oliseh who took over from Keshi it was easy for Pinnick to strike in accordance with what he was adviced to by backing Oliseh who threw the skipper out of the team hotel.
