According to a survey carried out by Septal Health Agency For Drug Free Sports more than 85% of Players in the Nigeria Professional Football League are drug cheats.

The agency findings was made known to Owngoalnigeria.com by their director Isaac Matthew who went a step further by revealing the names of the teams with the highest case of drug offenders.

“We carried out a study that should spur the League Management Committee (LMC) to work regarding doping in our domestic league as part of the steps to give our league a facelift , it’s unhealthy as presently about 85% of our league players are drug cheats” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“From our findings we discovered teams from the South South and South East area have the highest case of drug offenders notably Enyimba and Warri Wolves while in the South West area Sunshine Stars have the highest case.

“In the North it’s worst at Kano Pillars as a matter of fact three of their four key players can’t play without performance enhancing Substance which aptly describe why they constantly fail in continental games where the drug testing regime is more rigorous”.

He revealed the substance taken by the players to enhance their performances were mostly taken out of ignorance as they don’t know it’s an offense to take such particularly he cited the issue of marijuana smoking.

“Our survey revealed a lot about the high intake of marijuana by our players and when we questioned most of them to our surprise they don’t even know it’s an offence, the LMC need to do a lot in that regard”.
