As exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com last month head coach of the Nigeria U-20 team Emmanuel Amuneke has left out the quartet of Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Nwakali,Samuel Chukwueze and Lukman Zakari from his list of 30 invited players ahead of camping for the Africa Youth Championship.
Osimhen, top scorer at the last U-17 World Youth Championship recently moved to Wolfsburg of Germany while the tournament’s MVP Kelechi Nwakali and bronze boot winner Samuel Chukwueze both joined Arsenal in England with Lukman Zakari moving to Sfaxien of Tunisia.
The quartet were left out to enable them focus on their club careers abroad but they are expected to join their colleagues in camp few days to the team’s qualifier against Burundi which is scheduled for the weekend of May 20th-22nd.
Goalkepper Akpan Udoh leads a list of 30 players mostly drawn from the all conquering Nigeria U-17 at the last World Cup in Chile with some players who played for the team at U-17 level in Niger Republic during the Africa Youth Championship also called up.
