22 year old Chelsea of England defender Kenneth Omeruo has spoken of his desire to be at the Olympics with the Nigeria U-23 team who are set to compete in the male soccer event.
He still qualifies to play for Nigeria at U-23 level and his experience of playing in Belgium,Holland and England plus playing at the senior World Cup with where he played all of the country’s game coupled with winning the Africa cup of nations could be invaluable to the Nigeria team at the Olympics.
The Nigeria U-23 team were yesterday placed in same group as Colombia,Hoduras and Japan in group B of the male football event of Rio 2016 and Omeruo’s declaration of his wish to be at the Olympic should make coach of the team Samson Siasia happy as defence has been one of the major headache of the team.
Presently out on loan to Kasimpasa of Turkey he has played a big role in lifting the team to fifth spot in the Turkish Super Lig, with six games left to play, he spoke of his desires to be with the Nigeria Olympic team during an interview on Chelsea website.
“I just want to finish the season as well as possible and try and help Kasimpasa into a European spot. After that we will start thinking about next season. There is also the Olympics which I might be involved in” He told Chelsea.com when he was asked about his target for next season.
