Hapoel Be’er Sheva raced to the top of the championship playoffs table in Israel with a 4-1 thrashing of Bnei Sakhnin with three of their goals scored by the Nigerian duo of John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme.
Ogu who will soon be a father as his wife is expecting their first child anytime soon scored to draw his side level in the 19th minute before Nwakaeme put them in the lead in the 27th minute to takes scores to 2-1 and struck again in the 78th minute for his second of the game but the fourth for his side to give them a comprehensive 4-1 win.
The brace took Nwakaeme season’s tally to nine while Ogu now has four goals, an impressive tally considering he plays as a defensive midfielder although he has a reputation of scoring from his role as he also scored four goals last season.
Both players are 27 year old but while Ogu has been at Hapoel Be’er Sheva for two years, Nwakaeme joined him at the title chasers this season from Hapoel Ra’anana.
Hapoel Be’er Sheva are now top of the championship playoff table two points more than second place Maccabi Tel Aviv who have a game at hand against Maccabi Haifa tomorrow.
