Former Super Eagles forward Kalu Uche scored for the second time in three games to help Spanish second division side Almeria survive the drop to the third division.

The Nigerian scored Almeria’s opening goal in the 8th minute against Mirandes, a game they must win to stay in the second division and despite Alex Garcia drawing the visitors level, Jorge Garcia Morcillo scored the all important winner that preserved their league status with 12 minutes remaining.

33 year old Kalu joined Almeria as a free agent after a brief stint with Pune FC of India returning back to the team he spent six seasons with from 2005 to 2011.

The widely traveled Nigerian has played in Poland,Spain,Switzerland,Turkey,Qatar and India.
