AS Roma Nigerian teen defender Nura Abdullahi who recently underwent corrective surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament and internal meniscus is confident he will return a better player than he was before he got injured.
“First of all, it’s only natural for one to be disappointed after an injury but still it could have been worse. Thank God the surgery was successful, am a positive person and insha Allah I will return a better player than I was before I got injured” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
Nura will be out of action for six months, making it the second time within a space of one year that he has had to spend time away from the game after undergoing a corrective heart surgery last year.
Signed from the Primavera team of Serie B side Spezia after an impressive season he was heavily tipped to be a member of the first team next season after Roma exercise their end of season option to buy him and his childhood pal Sadiq Umar permanently from Spezia.
The speedy 19 year old was heavily courted by Barcelona after impressing against the Catalans in a UEFA Youth League game but they cooled their interest due to the surgery which kept him out for four months.
The four months he spent on the sidelines cost him a first team debut as his close friend and fellow Nigerian Sadiq Umar made inroads into the first team scoring twice in Nura’s absence.
