OBAJE EXTEND TOP SCORER LEAD AS WIKKI GO TOP WITH VICTORY OVER ENYIMBA

Wikki Tourist forward Godwin Obaje scored his 13th league goal of the season to wrap up a comprehensive 3-1 win for the home side against visiting Nigeria Professional League champions Enyimba.

The rescheduled game played at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium saw the host go in front courtesy Abubakar Lawal in the 18th minute only for Chima Akas to cancel out his headed goal with a sublime freekick three minutes later.

Idris Guda restored Wikki’s lead with two minutes of regulation time left to play before Godwin Obaje won and convert a spot kick two minutes later to take his season goals tally to 13 and kill off any hope of Enyimba snatching a point.

Obaje now has 13 goals four more than his closest challenger for the highest goal scorer award Ismaila Gata of Niger Tornadoes.

The defeat ended Enyimba’s run of nine straight games without defeat and also saw them drop from second on the log to third, one point behind second placed Rivers United while victory took Wikki Tourist top on goal difference.

In another rescheduled NPFL game El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri climbed out of the bottom four with a 2-0 win over Enugu Rangers in Maiduguri.

An 80th minute penalty from Ibrahim Mustapha killed the game off as a challenge as any hope of Enugu Rangers canceling out Hussaini Bata 4th minute strike ended with the goal.
