The Nigeria U-23s started their campaign at the Suwon invitational tournament on a wrong note losing 0-1 to host nation South Korea in a game where they missed so many chances.

Liverpool’s Taiwo Awoniyi was guilty of missing Nigeria’s first clear cut chance of the game, missing a sitter from close range after a neat interchange of passes with Saviour Godwin minutes after the half hour mark.

In the 55th minute Erhun Obanor let fly a ferocious effort which came off the woodwork before the duo of Usman Mohammed and Tiongoli Tombara fail to get the decisive touch to put the ball into an empty net with the goalkepper of Korea beaten.

That miss cost the dream team dearly as few minutes after Choi Kyubaek scored the only game of the game finally beating goalkepper Emmanuel Daniel who prior to conceding have made string of saves to keep the dream team in the game.
