Despite reported interest from FC Porto and Monaco, English Premiership giant Arsenal are still favourites to sign Nigerian U-20 star Samuel Chukwueze.

Owngoalnigeria.com understands that Porto and Monaco entered the race to sign the teen forward who finished as bronze boot winner in the last U-17 World cup when reports got to them that Arsenal are dilly-dallying on his capture.

Manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger confirmed in January that the gunners were closing in on a deal for the Nigerian duo of Kelechi Nwakali and Chukwueze but while the capture of Nwakali is closed to been seal, there are still issues regarding the signing of Chukwueze.

However despite the delay and the interest of Porto and Monaco, the teen forward who has been in blistering form for the Nigerian U-20s in the last one week with four goals in their last two test games is eager and has made his mind up on a move to Arsenal.

Chukwueze who was taken round the club’s facility by the team’s head of recruitment when they visited in January will push for a move to Arsenal regardless of what his advisers think.

Arsenal and his nursery team Diamond Academy are still some miles apart in their valuation of the forward whose fleet left foot has lead to comparism with Dutch winger Arjen Robben.
