The Nigeria U-23s secured a face saving 3-1 win over Honduras in their final game of the Suwon Invitational tournament after losing their first two games to South Korea and Denmark respectively.
Humiliated 6-2 by the Danes in their last game, the Nigerians went a goal behind in the 17th minute when Albert Elis beat Yusuf Mohammed for the first goal of the game.
Captain Azubuike Okechukwu drew Nigeria level a minute past the hour mark of the game before Saviour Godwin put the Nigerians ahead via the spot after a foul on Ndifreke Effiong in the box.
Three minutes from the end of the game central defender Saturday Keigo hit what looked like a clearance just outside the half of Nigeria but a howler from the goalkepper of Honduras allowed the ball to creep into the net.
Overall it was an improve performance from the Nigerians although just like in their previous two games where they suffered defeat they were wasteful in front of goal.
