Fidelis Irhene hope of playing for Portuguese giant FC Porto next season has suffered a setback as he will be sent out on another loan spell,owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Irhene spent the recently concluded 2015/2016 season with Portuguese second division side Portimonense on loan from FC Porto after six months with the B team of the 27 times champions of the Portuguese team.

He made 22 appearances for Portimonense scoring one goal from his role as a defensive midfielder and his appearances would have been more were it not for an injury picked up towards the end of the season and a three game ban after he was sent off in a game.

Following the success of fellow Nigerian Chidozie Awaziem at same club in the just concluded season, whispers started going round that Irhene would be given a shot to make an impression with the first team but his intermediary Babawo Mohammed has ruled it out.

“I had a meeting with FC Porto where an an agreement was reached for him (Irhene) to be sent out on another loan spell as there’s still no spot for him in the first team of FC Porto” Babawo told Owngoalnigeria.com.
