Former Nigeria U-17 and 20 hopeful Saddam Billy Auta who was on the transfer radar of Serie A side Sampdoria few years ago is close to joining Latvian side FS Metta.
He recently posted pictures on his facebook page from Italy but we gathered he has been training with the fifth placed Latvian side and could earn a deal in the coming days.
The bullish forward was close to signing for Norwegian side Molde during last summer transfer window but the move fell through as he opted for a move to CD Feirense of Portugal which later failed to materialise.
Auta now 20 years ago spent time training with Sampdoria of Italy as a 16 year old but wasn’t offered a contract due to disagreements over who owns his economic right.
Rated highly by current Nigeria U-17 coach Manu Garba after spending time in camp with his team in 2013 at U-17 level and at U-20 level in 2015 he is still waiting for his first cap for Nigeria at youth level.
