CHELSEA’S MIKEL WILL DECIDE ON CONTRACT EXTENSION AFTER RIO OLYMPICS

According to Babawo Mohammed, the Nigerian intermediary of Chelsea star John Obi Mikel, the 29 year old will decide on an offer of a contract extension with the Blues after the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Babawo Mohammed’s comment all but confirmed that Mikel will be at the Olympics in August with the Nigeria U-23s as one of the three over age players as allowed by the tournament rules.

“We held talks few months ago over Chelsea’s current contract offer to him (Mikel) and Mikel insisted it’s better we wait until after Nigeria’s participation at the Rio 2016 Olympics is over as he won’t want to be distracted from his aim of helping Nigeria pick gold at the games” Babawo Mohammed told Owngoalnigeria.com.

He refused to be drawn into the duration and the worth of the offer under consideration by the Chelsea star but as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com some months ago, his next move could be his last move before he quits football.
