Contrary to reports making rounds in the Nigeria media that Wolfsburg bound forward Victor Osimhen has been dropped from the Nigerian U-23s, the striker’s representative has denied the news.
According to a close source of the player, the 17 year old had a chat with coach Samson Siasia of the U-23s after which they both agreed it’s best the forward focus on the Nigeria U-20s where he is guarantee to play games than the U-23s where player power could see him seat on the bench.
“Osimhen wasn’t dropped, he had a meeting with Siasia where it was agreed it’s best he stay with the U-20s, people forget so soon how he got into the team after the U-17 World Youth Championship ” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
He further confirmed the details of the forward’s deal with Wolfsburg stating clearly that the teen star won’t join the Bundesliga side in pre season training but will resume practice with them in November.
“He won’t be having pre season with Wolfsburg as he will join them in November and train until he turns 18 when his professional contract will be activated”.
