AS Roma lanky 19 year old forward Sadiq Umar will arrive the camp of the Nigeria U-23 team in Abuja today to begin training and preparations with the Olympic bound team by tomorrow.
The Future of Africa Academy discovery who had a breakthrough season at Serie A side Roma was included in Nigeria’s 35 man provisional list for the Olympics in Rio by coach Samson Siasia on Friday.
Sadiq was granted excuse by the technical crew of the team has been in Kaduna on holiday and was a guest at the final match of the second edition of a Championship organised by his mentor and intermediary Mohammed Lawal.
” I already have my visa to travel with the U-23s to the US for camping ahead of the Olympics so by Sunday I will join them in camp and hopefully will have my first training session with the team on Monday” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
Linked with a loan move away from Roma, the ever smiling teen popularly called Jololo refused to be drawn on his possible destination insisting he doesn’t know or care much about that aspect of his career as he has capable hands handling it on his behalf.
“I honestly can’t tell you if I will be staying at Roma or not as am not involved in that aspect that much, I have people who are vast and knowledgeable in that area they are handling it on my behalf”.
