Olorunleke Ojo who has been heavily courted by Kano Pillars has joined Akure based Sunshine Stars on a season long deal as a replacement for Super Eagles goalie Ikechukwu Ezenwa who has moved to Ifeanyi Uba FC.

Ojo’s transfer cost the Akure gunners nothing in terms of transfer fee as he is part of the players set free by the League Management Company (LMC) following the expulsion of Giwa FC from the Nigeria Professional Football League.

He has long been on the wish list of Kano Pillars but the high paying Kano based team foot dragged during negotiations with the shot stopper and Sunshine Stars took advantage of their slow approach and snare the six feet goalkepper to Akure.

Ojo has been handed Jersey number 21 and he will provide competition for first choice goalkepper Abiodun Akande.

He was a part of the Nigeria U-20 that conquered Africa to lift the Africa Youth Championship in 2015 and made the World cup squad for the tournament in New Zealand as third choice goalkepper behind Joshua Enaholo and Dele Alampasu.
