Nigeria youth international Dele Alampasu has put aside the disappointment of losing out on a spot in the Nigerian team for the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics and has shift attention towards helping his Portuguese team do well in their first season in the top flight of Portuguese league.
Alampasu applied and was granted a visa to train with the Nigerian team in their pre Olympic camp in the USA but was surprisingly not listed when coach Samson Siasia relesed his 35 man preliminary list for the Olympics.
Last season 19 year old Alampasu played second fiddle to first choice goalkepper Luis Ribeiro but distinguished himself in the two cup games he kept goal FC Porto and Famalicao earning high praises for his performances particularly against FC Porto.
Voted as the best goalkepper at the U-17 World cup in the UAE in 2013, the shot stopper is already eyeing the position of first choice goalkepper next season when they will campaign in the Portuguese top flight.
” I have moved on, you can’t dwell on what you can’t change and I strongly believe my time will come in the national team, all am focused on now is doing well for CD Feirense to become the first choice next season when we play in the top flight league” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
