The Flying Eagles of Nigeria secured a morale boasting 2-1 win over City Strikers of Abuja in their last friendly game before departing the shores of Nigeria for Omdurman ahead of the first leg of their final U-20 AYC qualifiers against Sudan on Sunday.

Gavi Thompson popularly referred to as Paul Scholes by his teammates due to his similar hair colour to that of the Manchester United legend give the Flying Eagles an early lead just 30 seconds into the game.

Fit again forward Victor Osimhen proved his fitness by doubling their lead before captain of the team Kelechi Nwakali missed a penalty that would have put the game beyond the reach of City Strikers just past the half hour mark.

City Strikers made the Nigeria U-20s pay for the missed penalty minutes later when they reduced the deficit to bring scores to 2-1.

The game ended with the Flying Eagles triumphing once again to maintain their unbeaten run ahead of the game on Sunday which will go a long way in determining if Nigeria will qualify for the defence of the trophy they won in Senegal in 2015.
