Chippa United Akpeyi Rejoins Nigeria Olympic Team

Chippa United shots stopper Daniel Akpeyi is scheduled to return to the United States training base of the Nigeria Olympic team after leaving the team’s camp due to club engagement.

We gathered he was summoned by his team Chippa United to play in two high profile friendly games on the 12 and 14th of this month and coach Samson Siasia granted him permission to leave the team’s camp.

However the 29 year old who is set to be listed as one of the three overage players in the Nigeria Olympic team is expected back in camp as soon as he is done with his club commitment.

The Absa Premiership season will now begin on Tuesday, 23 of August two days after the conclusion of the Olympic games in Rio due to the involvement of South African U-23s at the event.
