Emmanuel Emenike continued his fine pre season form for Turkish side Fenerbahce netting in their 3-1 win over Romanian side Voluntari in a game which Dutch striker Robin Van Persie missed an open net.
Back at Fenerbahce after an unhappy loan spell in England with West Ham where he failed to score a league goal in 13 games for the Hammers, the 29 year old has been one of the early top performers for the Turkish side in training.
Emenike was rewarded for his performances in training with a start and the former West Ham loanee didn’t disappoint as he gave them an early lead in the 12th minute, his second pre season goal for the team.
The Nigerian preferred ahead of Dutch forward Robin Van Persie was replaced by the Dutch man at the start of the second half and minutes later, the former Arsenal man missed a chance that could easily have doubled Fenerbahce lead.
It appears coach Vitor Pereira has already made up his mind that the Nigerian who quit the senior Nigeria national team this year will be his first choice forward with reports claiming striker Van Persie is being offered to teams as Fenerbache wants the 32 year old off their wage bill.
