Former Nigeria youth international Jacob Njoku who was once upon a time on the books of Portuguese giants FC Porto and recently had trials with Liverpool will in the coming days arrive Israel for trials with Hapoel Petah Tikva.
Njoku was on trials at Liverpools alongside the Nigerian trio of Chidera Ejike,Charles Ezeh and Suleiman Mohammed but with the Merseysiders yet to make a decision, Njoku the most senior of the quartet is heading to Israel for trials.
Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that the 18 year old who last played for Dubai based Al Oruba will spend two weeks on trial with the second division side in his bid to earn a deal with the team that finished 6th in the league last season.
Left footed and pacy, he spent time with FC Porto as an amateur but wasn’t offered a contract when he turned 18 and has twice missed out on been a part of Nigeria youth teams to major tournaments.
Injury ruled him out of the U-17 team of 2013 while the presence of the likes of Watford latest signing Isacc Success, Manchester City Kelechi Iheanacho and Liverpool’s Taiwo Awoniyi denied him a spot in the Nigeria U-20 to the last World Cup.
