Out of favour Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu scored the first goal for Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva which started their comeback 3-2 win over FC Sheriff of Moldova.
The Moldovans took a shock lead in the 22nd minute before Ogu drew his side level two minutes before the half time break after the visitors were reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Fidan Aliti four minutes after they took the lead.
While Ogu played his part by drawing his side level, his Nigerian counterpart at the team Anthony Nwakaeme failed to find the back of the net despite playing the entire duration of the game.
Hapoel Beer Sheva needed two penalties to beat the hard fighting Moldovans 3-2 with their winning goal coming on the dot of regulation time via the penalty spot.
The Israeli will now travel to Moldova in a fortnight for the reverse tie needing to defend their slim 3-2 win while Sheriff FC will be looking to build on their two away goals despite losing the tie.
