Relegated Serie A side Carpi have agreed a loan deal with Russian side Krylya Sovetov for the transfer of Nigerian forward Jerry Mbakogu, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Carpi who will be campaigning in the second division of Italian football have made the striker available to interest clubs 12 months after turning down lucrative offers for him no thanks to a poor goals return last season in the Serie A.
The Russians were neck deep in talks to sign him but event took an unfamiliar turn yesterday when Besiktas came into the picture with a bid for the 24 year old.
However Daniel Martins who is close to people around the deal revealed that Besiktas didn’t pursue their interest for the forward with a bid which has turned the tide in favour of the Russians.
“He is definitely heading to Russia, Besiktas’s interest was nothing more than an enquiry, Mbakogu have agreed personal terms and all that is left is for the Russians to thrash out the remaining details with Carpi” Daniel Martins, Owngoalnigeria transfer expert revealed.
” There is an option of a permanent deal by next summer for a fee in the region of 1.5 to 3 million Euros base on his success with Krylya Sovetov”.
