Nigerian Contingent At Championship Side Wolverhampton Wanderers Set To Swell

English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers could have as much as six Nigerians on their payroll ahead of the start of the English Championship.

Presently the team has Super Eagles first choice goalkepper Carl Ikeme and England youth international, son to former Nigeria senior international Dominic Iorfa, Dominic Iorfa jnr as regular first team players while Bright Enobakhare is on the fringes of the first team.

This season pre season has seen the emergence of another Nigerian in Hakeem Odofin who is predominantly a right full back, highly rated by the technical crew at the Molineux.

The quartet could be joined by Ex Barcelona youth team player Godswill Elohor Ekpolo and 34 year old former Super Eagles defensive midfielder Seyi Olofinjana who last played for the team eight years ago but featured in yesterday’s 2-1 friendly victory for the U-21s against Hednesford Town FC.

However the club official twitter handle cleared the air about the 34 year old by stating he was played as cover for the U-21s with most of their players away with the first team.

Godswill on his part is playing to earn a contract with the team after his release by Barcelona where he spent 11 years and even captained their B team three seasons ago and was recently dropped by the Nigeria Olympic team before the start of their training camp in Atlanta USA.
