19 year old Nigerian defender Alma Wakili, has ended his association with Belgium second division side Eupen, where he turned professional two seasons ago following his capture from the prestigious Aspire Academy In Dubai.
He wasn’t offered a contract extension by the Belgian side after the expiration of his two year deal at the end of last season, forcing the Aspire Academy 2013 pick to try his luck in Lithuania.
Wakili was today unveiled as a player of Lithuania top division side Trakai, and was subsequently handed jersey number 22 by the team that finished second in the league last season .
Reacting to his failed stint in Belgium with Eupen, the defender explained injuries were the reasons why he made just three appearances during his stay with the second division Belgian side.
“I battled with injuries during my time in Belgium, but am fine now, and hopefully I will contribute my quota to the progress of the team”.
