Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report that Nigeria will hand senior national team call-up to the duo of Chuba Akpom of Arsenal and Ovie Ejaria of Liverpool, when the list of players for the 2017 AFCON Qualifiers game against Tanzania is released.
Already Salisu Yusuf who is the head coach of the team in the absence of a foreign technical adviser has told close friends and associates that the duo are in his plans for the September 2nd tie against Tanzania, if he is still in charge.
Akpom who has represented England at various youth level, turned down the chance to represent Nigeria at senior level when he was first approached but recent reports suggest he has had a change of mind.
Ejaria trained with the Nigeria Under-17s team of 2013, that had the likes of Manchester City wonder kid Kelechi Iheanacho and Watford record signing but left the camp on the insistence of his former club Arsenal.
” Akpom and Ejaria will no doubt be in the team for the Tanzania game, Yusuf has already confirmed he will call them up if they are willing to commit to Nigeria” One of his aides told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Akpom according to the NFF has indicated interest to play for Nigeria but Ejaria we are yet to establish contact with him but since he trained with the Under-17 in 2013, we are confident he wants to play for Nigeria”.
