The games of the UEFA Champions league qualifiers, was a mix bag of delight and despair for the Nigerians who took part in some of last night games.

In France, Emmanuel Emenike followed up his first leg brace against Elderson Echjiele’s Monaco with a goal but it was insufficient for his Turkish side who fell 3-1 to their host to crash out on a 4-3 aggregate score.

In Israel, the duo of John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme had the last laugh alongside their teammates when Hapoel Be’er Sheva knocked out Brown Ideye’s team Olympiakos, courtesy of a 1-0 win.

Efe Ambrose wasn’t dressed when Celtic defeated Astana 2-1 to progress to the next round of qualifiers, but the Nigerian quartet of Rabiu Ibrahim,Maduka Udeh,Samuel Kalu and Aliko Bala where all involved for AS Trencin, who crashed out on the away goal rule after drawing 0-0 against Legia Warsaw of Poland.
