Former Nigeria Under-17s trainee Jason Akiotu made his first senior team appearance for Crystal Palace, coming on as a substitute in their 3-0 victory over Farnborough in their final pre season game.
Akiotu was introduced by manager Alan Pardew with 16 minutes left to play in the pre season tie, for his first senior appearance for the South London based team.
18 year old Akiotu, trained with the Nigeria Under-17 team of 2015, but wasn’t considered good enough to make the team for the World Cup in Chile, which they eventually won.
Last season he spent time with English Premiership champions Leicester City, but wasn’t offered a deal after his stay with the U-18 where he featured in some games.
Back at Crystal Palace, the left full back who is known for his overlapping forays will be a regular for their U-23s in the new formed youth league in England, where his performance could earn him a spot in the first team.
