Okereke Knocks Out Udinese From Coppa Italia With First Professional Goal

Relatively unknown Nigerian teen forward David Okereke, scored a memorable first professional goal, to help Spezia dump Udinese out of the Coppa Italia with a 3-2 win.

Serie B side Spezia came from behind to cause one of the early upset of the Coppa Italia, with Okereke turning the game on it’s head with the third goal for Spezia.

The Nigerian moved to Spezia from Football Academy Abuja early this year, and made his first team bow towards the end of last season following a string of fine performances for their Primavera side.

Injury ended his season and limited his appearances for the first team after his debut last season. At Spezia, he is one of the three Nigerians on the books of the Italian side with Theophilus Awua and Tahir Maigini also a part of the first team.

Spezia have a working relationship with Football Academy Abuja, which was solidified by the exploits and subsequent transfer of Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi to Serie A side Roma.
